Then also there was Jack O'Halloran on Sunday from Barnegat, NJ, who took the money with a nice 4-lb fluke. We also had a youth group with the Blue Ball Mennonite Church, and the kids had a blast, fishing was a bit slow, but a few sea bass and ling, and the excellent weather conditions, made the trip really nice!
The pool winners earlier were Dolphin Joe of Waretown, NJ with a 3-lb-plus sea bass and John and his wife from Bensalem, PA (on their anniversary) won with a nice 3. And a big thanks to Ellis, of the Ocean Air, Hooks and Anchors fishing club, what a great time, even with the drizzling rain it was a good fishing trip.
4-lb sea bass and last but not least was Nathan Harris of Greenville, NC, 10 years old, who took everyone's money and won the pool with a nice 3. We have definitely seen a decrease in the catch this past week not sure if to blame on the conditions, or the moon, or the current, or the spawn, but we are continuing to sea bass this coming week due to the fact that we are still catching some nice fish and quite a few ling!
4-lb sea bass (can't whine about that fish), Bill Brucks of South Amboy, NJ with a 3-lber, Jules Mayor Majeski also won with a 4. Time spent together fishing is a wonderful gift! The sea bass season we feel has been pretty decent so far, especially with the cold water conditions.
6 3 14 The sea bass bite is still on Again, no limits but quality size fish make up for it And as the week before, the pool winners are big, like Ray Givens of Waretown, NJ with a 4. 7 lb sea bass Wow, Ray, what a beauty Almost to pretty to eat, NOT Even prettier on the dinner plate. Also we have John Weber of Beach Haven West, NJ, who won with a 4 lber, and Rich Greenberger of West Berlin, NJ, who won with a 5 lb cod.
5 21 14 The opening of the sea bass season on Monday was not too shabby! We will be sailing every day for the sea bass, one six-hour trip, 8 am to 2-2 30 pm.
4 30 14 Four days in a row, with the seas being fairly calm, except for a swell on Sat and some blustery winds in the am, and a northerly current which carried even a 10 oz sinker to the stern had to use at least 12 oz and a few doggies if you had any bait up high, and throwing beautiful keeper sea bass back, I would say it was a pretty good four days.Let's return then and get some fish for the freezer Sea you at sea.
The bite was slow but we managed to get some, like a nice 4. 5 lber pool winner caught by Jim McIntyre of Shamong, NJ. Not far behind him was Bob Wallace with a 3. 5 lb LOBSTER and a 3. 5 lb blackfish Nice catch, I never heard so many people scream NET Ha Friday was the slowest day because of the conditions mainly, but once again Jeff Bauer won the pool with a 5 lb blackfish. I expect the bite to improve for this coming Fri, Sat, Sun and Monday as long as the weather holds up.
